About Me
Who I Am
I’m Gina Hansen, an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and the founder of Gina Hansen Psychotherapy. My passion lies in supporting people to build resilience, heal from past experiences, and move forward with greater clarity and strength.
My Approach
I believe therapy should feel safe, supportive, and collaborative. My practice is grounded in evidence-based psychology and psychotherapy methods, with a focus on helping clients process trauma, strengthen their sense of identity, and develop practical coping skills. I work with adults, teenagers, couples, and groups, tailoring therapy to the unique needs of each individual.
My Areas of Interest
I have a particular interest in the impact of interpersonal trauma and family systems on mental health. Much of my work involves helping clients understand how early experiences shape current patterns, and empowering them to create new, healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
My Professional Experience
Over the years, I have worked in a variety of counselling and clinical roles, including:
Family Advisor at a Family Relationship Centre
Therapeutic Case Manager for adults who experienced childhood sexual assault
Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counsellor
Mental Health Clinician for both adults and teenagers
These experiences have shaped my trauma-informed, client-centred approach, and given me a deep understanding of the different challenges people face at various stages of life.
My Qualifications
Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
Master of Social Work
BA Social Science (Psychology)
Graduate Diploma in Career Development (Career Counselling)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Practitioner
EMDR Practitioner
